SUMMARY:01.02| Exhibition: Feliks Fabian from the collection of Lili Stern-Pohlmann\, MBE
DESCRIPTION:We are very happy to invite you to the next exhibition organized by the Polish Library POSK in London\, where the works of Felix Fabian will be presented. \nWe invite you to the opening of the exhibition “From the collection of Lili Stern-Pohlmann\, MBE/ From the collection of Lili Steen-Pohlmann MBE” on February 1 at 4:00 p.m. at the POSK Gallery. \nFeliks Fabian was a Polish realist painter who died in London in 1994. A large part of his work consists of paintings depicting memories\, everyday life in an Eastern European Jewish town. He became famous as a seasoned portraitist\, immortalizing film and theater stars in his paintings. He studied painting under the supervision of Professor Sterling in Vienna\, and then Professor Maccioco in Rome. After the outbreak of World War II\, he left for Lviv\, where he found employment as a graphic artist in the Feliks Konarski theater. He performed parodying Charlie Chaplin\, was arrested by the NKVD in 1940 and exiled deep into the USSR. Freed under an amnesty in 1941\, he joined the Polish Army in the East\, which was being organized\, and set off through the Middle East. In the meantime\, he performed in Czołówka Teatralna and Parada Polska. After the end of the war\, he decided to remain in exile\, initially living in Great Britain\, from where he soon left for Argentina. From 1948\, for three years\, he was the artistic director of the film industry-based “Studio Parana” in Buenos Aires. In 1951\, he founded his own painting studio\, and in the mid-1960s\, he decided to move to London\, where he lived until his death.
