He spent the winter of 1838-39 mostly at a quite comfortable three room cell ( no.4) with private garden in the former charterhouse of the Carthusians in the mountain village of Valldemossa. It’s difficult to put together a complete and final list of compositions that Chopin wrote while on Majorca\, since he started many of them before leaving for the island\, some he composed during his stay there\, and others he began there\, but finished them later.

SUMMARY:21.10 | The Chopin Festival - Chopin Jazz
DESCRIPTION:CHOPIN JAZZ – Stephen Ellery Project \nin The Jazz Club\nStephen Ellery is a multi-instrumentalist and orchestral conductor. He has conducted orchestras in Europe\, Asia and Latin America. His attachment to Polish Music and Poles saw him conducting a 65 piece London Gala Orchestra at the Royal Albert Hall in 2018 at the “STO LAT” Concert celebrating 100 years of Poland’s return to Independence. For a moment during this concert he switched to play solo saxophone in the middle of Edyta Górniak’s performance. Stephen has worked extensively with orchestras and singers from Poland and in London he has organised and conducted productions of many operas by Stanisław Moniuszko. As a saxophone player he has performed at music festivals and played on recordings. In 1989 he happened to be in Berlin and as the Wall was being torn down he climbed up upon it and played his sax – an image captured by many photographers. \nBUY TICKET

SUMMARY:20.07. | Exhibition: PUNKS PRINCES AND PROTESTS
DESCRIPTION:Exhibition: PUNKS PRINCES AND PROTESTS: The Chronicles of Feliks Topolski RA\nPartnership Anglo-Polish Cultural Exchange and Foundation Topolski Memoir \n  \nLocated in the Studio of Feliks Topolski on Southbank\, exhibition „Punks\, princes and protests:\nthe Chronicles of Feliks Topolski RA”. some of the most Anglo-Polish reporters evocative and historically relevant work\, documenting London’s social\, cultural and ethnic diversity over the years. As an outspoken critic of the “world of mercantile art”\, Topolski’s non-conformist views distinguished him from many of his peers. Topolski relied on artistic independence from artistic institutions as a means\nfulfilling its commitment to cultural democracy. He developed two of his available\, non-commercial\nprojects – Kronika Topolski’s newspaper and immersive painting-painting-painting autobiography installation “Diary of the Century” – from Southbank\, thanks in large part to the independence granted to him by the Studio. The Studio itself was its creative and social core and it doubled as an egalitarian exhibition space – which allowed it to “skip the art scene” and exist as something more than a traditional Renaissance artisan who\n“worked from the back and showed from the front” “before art middlemen came along.” \n  \nThis exhibition inherently addresses the broader issues of representation of émigré artists in Britain\, once again shining a spotlight on Topolski’s excellent work that has been unfairly judged to have fallen out of public memory. Topolski tirelessly documented the changing social\, cultural and political currents of the 20th century\, traveling around the world but always returning to London\, and from 1951 in his Studio underneath the Hungerford Bridge. The area has changed tremendously since then\, but the Studio remains an example of a bygone era of bohemian\, progressive and independent London. This is the first opportunity to open a unique space for the curatorial exhibition of Topolski’s works taken from the archives\, restoring the Studio’s democratic exhibition status\, as well as a place of independent thought and the promotion of reportage as art and artistic practice. As a South Bank character becomes increasingly commercial\, it is more important than ever to establish and protect authentic and independent artistic and educational spaces that cater to a diverse UK audience. The studio has always been a guardian of these values. Feliks was present here. \nCurators: Julia Griffin and Lucien Topolski

SUMMARY:17.09. | Cyclic social project "Family"
DESCRIPTION:| Cyclic social project “Family” \nFree entrance \nPOSK Family is free advice\, benefits\, debt relief\, social issues.\n\nThe new year for most people is a motivator to change\, improve the quality of their lives and implement new goals. \nThese are usually matters related to health\, diet or study/personal development\, or resolutions to save money. \nHowever\, the mere change of the number in the calendar is not enough to motivate you not to give up on your goals. \nWhat if you start this year with a general cleaning “in the basement”? \nHow many things do you put off for sometime\, for later\, so much you do not want to deal with them now? \nOne of the most hated activities is all official matters\, facing debts\, tax settlements and penalties. \nThere will always be other activities that simply “MUST” be done now\, thus drastically reducing the chances of dealing with documents. \nThe POSK Families project in cooperation with the Nati Care Social Club organizes regular meetings for everyone who needs help. \nPOSK Families are welcome 17.09.2023 from 1pm to 3:30pm

The competition is planned as a quiz\, each team will get a worksheet to mark the answers in writing. We are counting on our young people to present a fantastic knowledge of these two battles\, as our goal is to promote historical knowledge. We also want to honor the Polish heroes of Monte Cassino and the Warsaw Uprising\, remind the younger generation of the sacrifice and courage of their ancestors who fought to defend the highest values understanding the importance of shaping civic attitudes among our students. The competition also aims to integrate the educational community in the UK\, students from different schools will have the opportunity to have direct contact\, make new friends\, and teachers will have the opportunity to cooperate or exchange experiences.\nOf course\, the prizes are also not insignificant. Talks with guests from the Honorary Committee\, interesting book prizes\, diplomas – this will certainly be a great pleasure for all participants. We also have a special grand prize: the winning team will receive a voucher for a weekend trip to Warsaw.
