Joanna Ciechanowska: A Retrospective Exhibition (1970-2024)\nThe exhibition traces Ciechanowska’s rich and versatile creative output in the context of her vicissitudes and the itinerary of her life journey as an émigré woman artist together with key formative influences.\nHaving left Poland during the communist regime in 1977\, Joanna came to Britain where she met her English civil engineer husband.\nTogether they were sent to many international postings – from Iran\, through Africa (including the Kingdom of Lesotho and Egypt) to Hong Kong\, and post-communist Poland\, where Ciechanowska was able to re-connect with her Polish roots\, before settling down in Great Britain.\nBy the 1980s Ciechanowska became a distinguished international illustrator and graphic designer\, before taking on the role of POSK Gallery Director\, promoting and mentoring Polish artists in the UK. \n     \n

Kostrzewa – Hollywood Fantasy part 1  \n  \nOn September 27 in London\, there will be an unusual opportunity to hear a violin and accordion duet in the classical repertoire!\n\nDuo Karolina Mikołajczyk & Iwo Jednocki are this year’s winners of POLITYKA’S PASZPORT in the Classical Music category\, one of the few violin and accordion duos in the world performing classical music. Winners of the Grand Prix and 1st place at international music competitions\, nominated for the Fryderyk award for their album of contemporary music. They have performed over 250 recitals in Europe\, Asia\, South America and the United States\, including two concerts at Carnegie Hall.\n\nTheir cooperation with Krzysztof Penderecki resulted in receiving official consent from the Maestro to create an arrangement for violin and accordion of the First Sonata (originally intended for violin and piano). The world-famous violinist Maxim Vengerov described them as “a duo that sounds like one instrument”.\n\nThe duo’s next concerts are a “around the world tour” planned for the next few months\, which will include Poland\, the United States (New York\, Washington\, Los Angeles\, Hawaii)\, Australia (Melbourne)\, and Saudi Arabia (Riyadh).\n\nThe duo’s visit to London is also related to the release of their next album\, this time on the British label CDR Records. She has recorded seven albums\, garnering critical and public acclaim. On Ela’s latest album titled. “Zbieram Siebie” included carefully selected new songs by the Artist\, such as: “Trwaj\, chwilo\, trwaj” (duet with A. Nowak)\, “Posiedzimy sobie razem w kuchni” (duet with K. Kiljański)\, “Zanosi się na noc”. The song “Trwaj chwilo trwaj” for a long time remained at the top of the charts of\, among others\, “Trójka”\, Radio “Zlote Przeboje” and in the poll of the Polish Radio “Jedynki” was voted one of the top hits of Autumn 2009.
