DESCRIPTION:Akademia Szachowa w POSK-u!\nKlub Miłośników Gier Wszelakich – Gramy w Londynie zaprasza na Akademię Szachową.\n\n\n\n 26 października Atrium – III piętro 13.00 – 18.00 Wstęp wolny\n\nZapraszamy wszystkich miłośników gry w szachy!\n\n\n\n\nSzachy to gra\, w której udział biorą dwie osoby. Rozgrywa się ją na planszy nazywanej szachownicą\, gdzie rozstawia się 32 bierki (sześciu rodzajów\, w tym po 8 pionów i 8 figur\, łącznie 16 dla każdego z graczy). Celem gry jest danie mata\, tzn. zagrożenie królowi przeciwnika usunięciem z dalszej rozgrywki („zbiciem”)\, którego nie sposób uniknąć. Gry jednak nie zawsze kończą się matem – gracze często poddają się\, jeśli uważają\, że dalsza gra doprowadzi do ich ostatecznej porażki. Zasady przewidują kilka sposobów remisowego zakończenia gry. \nOprócz podstawowych zasad poruszania bierek zasady regulują także wykorzystywane wyposażenie\, kontrolę czasu\, zachowanie i etykę graczy\, ułatwienia dla niepełnosprawnych graczy\, zapis posunięć za pomocą notacji szachowej\, jak również sposoby postępowania w przypadku nieprawidłowości napotkanych w czasie gry.

DESCRIPTION:Polish Opera Double Bill – Moniuszko’s Flis & Verbum Nobile\nPOSK presents the next production of the Polish Opera in London.  \n\n\nSaturday 26th October 7:30pm  \nSunday 27th October at 4pm      \n.\nThe Polish opera has presented nearly all of Moniuszko’s operas and this year presents a double bill of 2 one act operas. The performance features dance\, song and acting with orchestra conducted by Stephen Ellery.\n\n.\nThe Polish opera has presented nearly all of Moniuszko’s operas and this year presents a double bill of 2 one act operas. \nThe performance features dance\, song and acting with orchestra conducted by Stephen Ellery.\n\n\nTwo stagings of famous Polish operas written by Moniuszko\, commonly known as „the father of Polish opera” \nAfter the success of his opera „Halka” Stanisław Moniuszko was made director of the National Opera in Warsaw. In 1858 he travelled to Paris to dedicate time to composition. Legend has it that during a very hot 4 days the composer isolated himself in his hotel room and wrote the whole opera Flis. \nFlis is set in a town of raftsmen by the Wisla river and revolves around two young lovers who are not allowed to marry because the father of the girl „Zosia” had previously promised her to another young man „Jakub” (who is a hairdresser in Warsaw!). Disillusioned\, Franek goes off in search of his long lost brother\, only to find that his brother is actually the hairdresser in Warsaw! The score is full of Polish folk-influenced tunes\, prayers and national rhythms including the Kujawiak. \n \nSelected dancers from Tatry\, Mazury\, Karolinka\, Orketa\, and Żywiec dance groups \n  \n \nVerbum Nobile is a comic opera. \nZuzia and Michal are promised to each other by their parents\, without their having met; they meet accidentally and fall in love. Michal\, having given his name as Stanisław\, is refused Zusia’s hand by her father\, who has given his word to Serwacy\, Michal’s father\, on the betrothal. Including elements of hard bop\, Latin jazz\, gospel and even folk\, there are nods to Dexter Gordon\, Stanley Turrentine\, John Coltrane\, Antonio Carlos Jobim\, Bill Evans\, Brad Mehldau\, McCoy Tyner and more besides. This is honest music full of emotions\, inspired and unified around the central theme of ‘home’”. Concerning their new relationship with Ubuntu Music\, they continue: “It’s been a real pleasure working with Martin Hummel and the Ubuntu team towards the release of our new album\, ‘Feels Like Home’. We’ve felt really supported as artists in developing this project”. \nVasilis and Paul began playing together 20 years ago when both relocated to West London to study. Originally from Greece\, Vasilis had just finished studying at Berklee College in the US\, while Paul had moved South from the Northeast of England. In the intervening years\, they’ve played numerous gigs together\, releasing their debut album in 2016\, A Narrow Escape\, to critical acclaim.
