21.02| Meeting with the historian, prof. Andrzej Nowak

Andrzej Nowak was born in 1960 in Krakow. An outstanding historian, sovietologist and expert on Polish-Russian relations. He was awarded a postdoctoral degree in 2002 and the title of full professor in 2011. He is head of the Department of Eastern European History and the Study of Nineteenth and Twentieth Century Empires at the Institute of History of the Polish Academy of Sciences and the Department of Eastern European History at the Jagiellonian University. He specialises in the history of Russian political thought and Polish-Russian relations in the 19th and 20th centuries. He has shared his vast knowledge on these subjects in lectures at, inter alia, American universities (Harvard, Columbia, Rice), English universities (Cambridge, London University), and, among others, Masaryk University in Brno, Tokyo University, Warsaw University, Collegium Civitas and Wyższa Szkoła Biznesu in Nowy Sącz. He has participated in more than a hundred scientific conferences and congresses in Sapporo, Kazan, Tver, Moscow, Paris, London, Cambridge, Stockholm, Venice, New York, Budapest, Rapperswil and Brno, among others. In 2015, he was appointed by President Andrzej Duda as a member of the National Development Council.
