Pilsudski Institute

PIŁSUDSKI INSTITUTE OF LONDON
Since 1947

HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTE

Operating since 1947, the Pilsudski Institute is an organization integrally linked to the Polish presence in the British capital. Note, for the non-Polish speakers, the Polish pronunciation of Piłsudski sounds like “Piw-sud-ski”, not “Pill-sud-ski”
The current museum exhibition presents a chronology of events related to the Polish road to independence. Original posters, photographs and documents, as well as personal memorabilia marking the Legion’s trail, and the Little Legionnaire’s Corner encourages the youngest visitors to learn about history in an interactive way.

ENIGMA HOLOGRAM

One of the attractions offered at the museum is the opportunity to see a hologram of a unique copy of the 1940 Enigma cipher machine, constructed in France according to the plans of Polish cryptologists.
