It is with great regret and sadness that we have received the news of the death of Urszula Święcicka, who ran Thursdays at POSK for many years and later created Teatr Nowy (1983-1991).
The Nowy Theatre was a continuation of “Thursdays at POSK”, a regular artistic event held at the Malinowa Hall initiated in 1975 by the then manager Tadeusz Jarzembowski. Urszula Święcicka ran the New Theatre (Teatr Nowy) until 1991. The POSK, supported by the Feliks Laski Foundation, took financial charge of the theatre. During this time, 19 premieres were staged and the repertoire included plays by Witkacy and Sławomir Mrożek, among others. Such eminent actors as Jan Englert, Jerzy Zelnik, Joanna Szczepkowska, Henryk Machalica or Ewa Dalkowska and many others performed on the POSK stage.
Urszula Święcicka also ran the Impresaryjny Theatre (Teatr Imresaryjny) at POSK, which produced a total of 150 productions with outstanding Polish actors such as Gustaw Holoubek, Jan Englert, Tadeusz Łomnicki, Maja Komorowska, Anna Seniuk, Zbigniew Zapasiewicz, Daniel Olbrychski, Magda Zawadzka, Krystyna Janda, Piotr Fronczewski, Marek Kondrat, Ewa Wiśniewska, Krzysztof Kolberger, Jan Kobuszewski, Janusz Gajos and many others.
