Opening of the 3rd Edition of the Anglo-Polish Cultural Exchange Festival is a part of the Association for Art History’s Art History Festival.
Private View and Book Launch of EMIGRATION. WILL I MAKE IT? Joanna Ciechanowska: A Retrospective Exhibition (1970-2024) took place on 18th of September 2024 in The POSK Gallery.
Dr Marek Laskiewicz, POSK Chairman:
“Emigration: Will I Make it?” continues POSK’s commitment to recording and showcasing Anglo- Polish art in the UK. This art, and indeed Polish art in general, are woefully underrepresented in Britain’s public galleries and museums despite the Polish diaspora being one of the largest communities in British society. It is essential that POSK takes the lead in illuminating Poles’ contributions to UK’s culture and society, and indeed to the county’s successes as a whole.
Joanna Ciechanowska:
About twenty years ago I joined the Association of Polish Artists in Great Britain (APA) as well as the POSK community, helping Joanna Baranowska – the first Director of the POSK Gallery – organise shows and manage the gallery space. It was a great friendship.
That is my inspiration in art. I began studying architecture at the Gdańsk Art College. I graduated from the Warsaw Academy of Fine Arts (ASP) with an MA in Graphic Design and Painting.
As an artist, I am an observer.
